Celo’s agent hackathon asks builders to work in local currencies

The ongoing program connects agent payments with Ripio’s wFIAT stablecoins and regional builder sessions.

Celo Developers’ Agents on Open Rails program includes a LATAM track using Ripio’s local-currency wFIAT stablecoins on Celo mainnet. Submissions close November 9. Its published schedule includes Argentine builder cafés, giving this ongoing program a regional entry point beyond an online demo.

A useful project question is whether an agent removes a real step from a merchant’s or worker’s day. Automatically paying for a service is only part of the answer. The person using it still needs to understand what was purchased, which currency was used and how to stop another payment.

Our assessment is that a strong regional prototype should begin with a narrow, repeatable job rather than an impressive chain of autonomous actions. Demonstrate the normal flow, then show a rejected payment, an exhausted budget and a change of currency. That would make the demo easier for a potential user to judge and expose operational assumptions before a wider launch.
