Coinbase adds tokenized gold to its borrowing route on Base
The PAXG-backed USDC offer uses Morpho and is available to eligible US users outside New York.

Coinbase announced USDC borrowing against PAX Gold (PAXG), powered by Morpho on Base. Its accompanying reply limits availability to the United States excluding New York, subject to eligibility, market conditions and jurisdiction-specific terms.
This connects tokenized collateral with an existing distribution channel. It does not make borrowing risk-free: Coinbase notes variable rates and collateral-liquidation risk. Holding exposure to gold and taking a loan against that exposure are distinct financial positions.
For RWA product teams, the useful pattern is the connection between an asset, a lending market and a user-facing service. Extending that pattern to other assets still requires their own rights, liquidity, valuation and eligibility arrangements; one token’s integration does not establish those conditions for another.
