Denim brings native 200ms blocks to Base

Base’s mainnet upgrade retires Flashblocks and adds finer timekeeping and issuer transfer controls.

A brass clock mechanism advances separate wooden printing blocks.

Base says Denim is live on mainnet, replacing Flashblocks previews with complete canonical blocks every 200ms. Faster inclusion still relies on Ethereum for safety and finality; it does not mean instant final settlement.

BaseTime supplies millisecond precision while block.timestamp remains in seconds. B20 changes add transfer-executor checks, reusable inverted policies and rejection of transfers to a token’s own address. These are issuer controls, not automatic regulatory approval.

For builders, the immediate work is migration: replace Flashblocks subscriptions, review assumptions based on block counts and check issuer policies. A faster clock changes operational load as well as user experience.
