Devcon opens with a trust agenda extending beyond the chain
The opening connects hardware, communication and AI with digital trust, while Justin Drake’s December 2028 transition date remains an ambition.

Devcon’s official opening-ceremony post attributes a broad trust agenda to Vitalik Buterin: operating systems, hardware, health-related tools, information, communication and AI all need scrutiny. The useful connection for builders is that a secure ledger cannot by itself make the surrounding device, software or information source trustworthy.
In a separate official post, Devcon attributes to Justin Drake the hope of completing Ethereum’s post-quantum and post-AI transition by December 2028. That is an attributed roadmap ambition, not an adopted guarantee that every upgrade or application migration will be finished on that date. The quoted post alone is insufficient to infer a complete fork specification. Roadmap source: https://x.com/EFDevcon/status/2117497506007576631
Teams responsible for long-lived assets can use that discussion to inventory signing dependencies, upgrade authority and recovery options. The immediate deliverable is a map of what would need to change if cryptographic assumptions or execution environments change. The opening offers a research and coordination agenda; it does not announce a finished trust stack for users.
