Devcon announced an Open Hardware Zone with Makers Asylum for Devcon 8 in Mumbai, scheduled for November 3–6. The organizers describe a dedicated space for hands-on building and experimentation with open-source hardware.

The announcement is a program plan, not evidence that a particular project has launched or that anyone has attended. Participants should consult the current event program and entry requirements before making travel decisions.

For builders, a physical workshop can make device constraints visible alongside software design. Documenting what a prototype does, how it is powered and how it is maintained can make a demonstration more useful after the event.
