Hong Kong extends its tokenized-deposit pilot to 24/7 settlement
HKMA says Ensemble now supports interbank settlement in tokenized central bank money beyond conventional hours.

Hong Kong’s monetary authority announced that Ensemble, its controlled tokenization pilot, now supports round-the-clock interbank settlement of tokenized-deposit transactions in tokenized central bank money. The November announcement expands the settlement capability of a pilot that began using the existing real-time gross settlement system.
The distinction is between the commercial bank deposit used by participants and the central bank money used to settle between banks. An always-on application needs the settlement layer to remain available when conventional banking hours end. That is a different infrastructure question from whether a consumer stablecoin has gained users.
For LATAM banks and treasury builders, the relevant benchmark is the connection between tokenized claims and their final settlement asset. The announcement concerns participating institutions in a controlled pilot; it does not establish public access or a corresponding service in Panama. Eligibility, liquidity and operating responsibilities remain practical questions for any comparable design.
