Hoodi gives Ethereum teams a date for their Glamsterdam rehearsal

The October 26 testnet upgrade is a practical deadline for node operators and application teams. Mainnet timing remains separate.

Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade is scheduled for the Hoodi testnet on October 26 at 17:42:48 UTC, or 12:42:48 p.m. in Panama. The Ethereum Foundation’s announcement follows the upgrade’s activation on Sepolia and explicitly leaves the mainnet date undecided.

The changes include enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and revised gas accounting. Hoodi’s gas limit is also scheduled to rise to 200 million at activation. For product teams, the immediate issue is compatibility testing rather than a promise of instant capacity on mainnet.

Operators should check the Foundation’s current release tables for supported execution and consensus clients. Application teams can use the testnet to exercise contracts, gas estimates and infrastructure integrations against the changed rules. Hardcoded gas assumptions deserve particular attention.

ETH Canal perspective: treat the rehearsal as a product-readiness milestone. Keep a short record of the client versions, transactions and user journeys tested, and resolve failures before relying on a later mainnet rollout. A testnet date is useful preparation; it is not a mainnet launch announcement.
