Mercado Bitcoin reports a security incident and service restrictions
The exchange says customers will not lose assets; its original statements do not establish the circulating loss estimates or full service restoration.

Mercado Bitcoin said on November 2 that it had identified and quickly contained a security incident in one of its systems. Its first statement said customers had suffered no loss and that there had been no data leak. It also announced a precautionary suspension of deposits and withdrawals while teams investigated, tracked assets and coordinated with authorities.
A later statement assured customers that they would not lose assets because of the incident and described a temporary restriction on access to services. That assurance is the exchange’s statement, not an independently verified account reconciliation. Neither of the two original notices reviewed establishes a monetary loss estimate, an attack mechanism or the restoration of every service. For businesses relying on an exchange to fund settlement, operational availability deserves its own contingency plan even when the provider promises to protect balances. Teams should verify the current status of their specific deposit and withdrawal routes before scheduling payments. A customer-protection assurance and a usable settlement route answer different operational questions.
