StarkWare’s quantum target still depends on the layers around it

A 2027 transition goal leaves account migration and Ethereum data commitments as separate engineering questions.

StarkWare says it aims to complete Starknet’s post-quantum transition by 2027. Its companion post identifies Ethereum’s KZG blob commitments as an external dependency and describes an independent L1 as an option being explored. Neither post announces a completed migration.

The company’s October analysis distinguishes adaptable accounts from adopted post-quantum signing. It describes demonstrations as unaudited and says standard accounts still use elliptic-curve signatures. A flexible upgrade mechanism is useful, but it does not establish that ordinary accounts already have the new protection.

Infrastructure teams should assess signatures, state proofs and data availability separately. A roadmap for one component cannot stand in for an end-to-end migration plan, including wallet support, testing and the dependencies a network cannot change by itself.
